Call to Action!

September 13, 2017 by Sean Bagbey

IF YOU or a loved one has MEDICARE FOR INSURANCE then this is a MUST READ STATUS:

As Medicare beneficiaries, you are only allowed 20 visits per year of physical therapy AND speech therapy, COMBINED! This means that if you or your loved one has a stroke, multiple surgeries, or chronic pain, your access to physical therapy care can be limited. This is called the MEDICARE THERAPY CAP and we have been working hard over the last 20 years to repeal this law. I feel 2017 is our year!

September 12th and 13th is the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Flash Action Strategy where we pledge to flood Congressional offices with emails, letters and phone calls regarding the significance of this issue. It takes 2 minutes and is laid out below:

Visit https://www.votervoice.net/APTA/Campaigns/52117/Respond. From there you will sign and send a pre-written letter.

or you can download the free app using the following steps:

1. Go to the APTA Action App

2. If APTA Member: click there and login
If not APTA member: click “Patients/Non-members”
3. Click “Take Action” under Support Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Act
4. A pre-written letter will appear. You only need to sign and send! Feel free to change it if you want!
